Conor McLaughlin is a free agent at the moment following his exit at English League One club Fleetwood Town last month. The Northern Ireland national team right-back was released at the end of his short-term contract with the club. Conor McLaughlin had earlier signed a six-month deal with Fleetwood Town at the start of the current season in what was his second spell at the club.

Fleetwood Town released a statement on their website last month on the exit of the experienced defender. According to the club statement, 30-year-old McLaughlin has left after the expiration of his contract.

Conor McLaughlin returned to Fleetwood Town towards the end of last year after becoming a free agent on the back of his time with fellow League One team Sunderland. The Northern Irishman was with the Black Cats for two years before they released him at the end of his contract with the club. He was then given a short-term deal by Fleetwood Town after several weeks without a club.

McLaughlin signed the contract to start his second spell at Fleetwood Town in October 2021 and he went on to make 12 appearances for the League One team in all competitions before the end of his contract. Nine of those 12 appearances came in the league.

Following his second spell at Highbury Stadium, Conor McLaughlin is on the list of past and present Fleetwood Town players with the most appearances in the English Football League (EFL). He was on 203 EFL appearances before signing a short-term contract over three months ago. His nine EFL appearances from this season took the tally to 212 appearances. Only two players have played more EFL games for Fleetwood Town than Conor McLaughlin.

The statement from Fleetwood Town thanked McLaughlin for his efforts and then wished good luck in his future endeavours.
